Synopsis
Kanna Village faces annual raids from the Nobuseri, mechanized ex-samurai who return every harvest to strip the fields bare, so the water priestess Kirara sets out to hire protection the village can only pay in rice. She recruits the veteran strategist Kanbei, who brings along the earnest young Katsushiro as his student, to train the villagers and prepare their defenses. This manga adapts the anime, itself built on Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai.
