Kaito Kuroba discovers, on the eighth anniversary of his father's death, that his dad was secretly the Phantom Thief Kaito Kid: an internationally wanted magician-thief murdered by a shadowy organization hunting the mythical Pandora gem. Taking up his father's mask and cape, Kaito starts pulling off his own gem heists to draw the organization out, all while his classmate Aoko Nakamori and the high-school detective Saguru Hakuba close in on his double life. This manga is the origin story behind Kaito Kid, the recurring phantom thief from creator Gosho Aoyama's Detective Conan.
