Tokyo has spent years sealed off from the rest of the world inside a barrier called Tokyo Jupiter, held there by the otherworldly Mu, and Ayato Kamina is a student living inside it who awakens the ancient mecha RahXephon and is pulled out into the world beyond. Told across chapters that shift into different characters' first-person perspectives, this light novel series retells the TV anime's events while adding scenes the anime never showed.
