Three years after Susumu Kodai and the Yamato returned from Iscandar, Earth has rebuilt itself around forbidden Wave Motion technology and a fragile peace with the Garmillas. The goddess Teresa reaches Kodai with a psychic plea to sail for the planet Tereza, just as the alien Gatlantis empire begins advancing on Earth under cover of that same peace. The Yamato's crew reassembles around him, navigator Yuki Mori included, for a voyage that will decide whether humanity's rebuilding effort survives contact with Gatlantis.
