In the year 2199, Earth is a radioactive ruin after years of bombardment by the Gamilas Empire, its people driven underground with roughly one year left before extinction. When a message arrives from the distant planet Iscandar offering technology to reverse the radiation, the UN Cosmo Navy resurrects the sunken WWII battleship Yamato and rebuilds it as a starship. Captain Juuzou Okita leads the crew, including tactical officer Susumu Kodai and radar officer Yuki Mori, on the voyage to Iscandar. This manga adapts the 2012 TV series.
