On their way to a Pokémon contest, Ash, Brock, and Dawn stop in Alamos Town, a garden city built around the mysterious Space-Time Towers. The peaceful town is suddenly struck by inexplicable destruction and a spreading fog as Dialga and Palkia, legendary Pokémon capable of warping time and space, clash somewhere nearby. Caught between the fighting titans is Darkrai, blamed for the chaos but secretly trying to protect the town's people, among them the young Alice and the eccentric Baron Alberto.
