Tamaki Kasuga returns to her family's ancestral village and is soon confronted by supernatural danger, only to learn from her grandmother that she is the newest Tamayorihime, the role that leaves her to seal a powerful sword called Onikirimaru with the help of five sworn male guardians, including Takuma Onizaki and Yuuichi Komura. This manga adapts the Hiiro no Kakera otome game that the later TV anime is based on, and it predates that adaptation by several years. The story follows Tamaki's first steps into her new duty and the guardians assembling around her.
