Izumiko Suzuhara, raised within the shrine grounds of Tamakura in the Kumano mountains, destroys any electronic device she touches. When her guardian Yukimasa Sagara sends her to Tokyo's Hojo High School alongside his son Miyuki, an entity called Himegami manifests and Izumiko learns she is a yorishiro, a living vessel for a Shinto kami. Miyuki, trained as a yamabushi since childhood, is assigned to protect her, forcing the two childhood friends into roles neither of them chose.
