Saki Watanabe lives in Kamisu 66, an idyllic Japanese village a thousand years in the future where every child develops telekinetic powers called "Cantus." At twelve, Saki joins her friends Satoru Asahina, Maria Akizuki, Mamoru Itou, and Shun Aonuma at Sage Academy to train their abilities. During a field trip beyond the village barrier, the five uncover suppressed history about what Cantus did to the old world — and why their seemingly peaceful society controls its children so tightly.
