Nagomu Irino comes home to Kyoto after a decade chasing a music career in Tokyo, expecting to take over his family's wagashi shop, Ryokushou, once his hospitalized father steps back. Instead he finds ten-year-old Itsuka Yukihira already living there and being groomed to inherit the business in his place. His father makes Nagomu start over as an ordinary shop assistant to prove himself, while his mother quietly asks him to become something like a father figure to Itsuka.
