Junpei Murao falls for ballet as a boy, transfixed by a male soloist at his older sister's recital, but drops it after his father's death to take up Jeet Kune Do instead, chasing a version of himself his classmates won't tease. In middle school, Miyako Godai catches him blending martial-arts footwork with ballet steps and pulls him back into the studio her mother runs. Junpei starts training toward becoming Japan's first danseur noble, the highest rank in ballet, while keeping his renewed passion hidden from everyone but Miyako.
