Synopsis
In the fictional empire of Saiunkoku, Shuurei Kou keeps her fallen noble family afloat by tutoring and taking odd jobs, all while the imperial exams and government posts she actually wants stay closed to women. The Emperor's Grand Advisor changes that by hiring her for six months as consort to the untested young Emperor Ryuuki Shi, paying her handsomely to mentor him into a ruler worth the throne. The original light novel series later spun off a manga and two anime seasons.
