Sky pirate Coud Van Giruet discovers Ren, a living weapon called an Edel Raid who can shift from human form into a powerful blade, stranded during one of his missions. He takes her in as her guardian, and the two set out for Edel Garden, the fabled birthplace of the Edel Raids, picking up Cisqua, Rowen, and Kuea of the Edel Raid protection group Arc Aile along the way.
