Hana Ichinose starts high school a year later than her classmates after mumps forced her to miss her entrance exams, and she moves into the apartment building her cousin runs to keep her 'middle school ronin' year a secret. At school she falls in with Eiko Tokura, the childlike Kamuri Sengoku and the irrepressible Tamate Momochi, building an ordinary friend group while quietly dreading the day her age slips out. The four-panel comedy plays her worry for low-key laughs rather than drama.
