Eight years after the events of Macross Frontier, the Var Syndrome is spreading through the galaxy, turning anyone it touches violently aggressive. The idol unit Walküre holds it back with their songs while the Valkyrie pilots of Delta Flight fly escort. Hayate Immelmann signs on as one of those pilots and Freyja Wion joins Walküre as a singer, just as the Aerial Knights, an elite fighter team from the Windermere Kingdom, move to oppose them.
