Takashi Natsume can see the youkai spirits invisible to everyone else, and spends his days returning names his late grandmother Reiko once stole and sealed inside the Book of Friends. Season seven picks up with Natsume settled among the Fujiwara family who took him in and his prickly guardian, the cat-shaped Madara, still trailing him as "Nyanko-sensei." A youkai possessing a lookalike clay figure of Madara throws the household into a new bout of small, everyday chaos as another name waits to be returned.
