Japan's Media Betterment Act, passed in 1989, hands government agents the power to censor any print material deemed harmful, and the Library Freedom Act answers back by letting local libraries form their own armed defense units. Thirty years on, Iku Kasahara, saved from a censorship raid by a Library Defense Force soldier when she was a girl, enlists to fight on that side of the standoff and has to survive the demanding training of her instructor Doujou. This manga is the shounen-magazine adaptation of the Library War novels, distinct from the shoujo Love & War version.
