After the dormitory fire leaves him without lodging, high schooler Yūshi Inaba finds a startlingly cheap room at Kotobuki-sō, a boarding house whose tenants include yōkai, ghosts, and other supernatural residents alongside its human ones. Exorcist Akine Kuga, one of his new neighbors, shows him the building's unwritten rules as he adjusts to sharing walls with spirits. This light novel is the original work behind the later manga and anime, following Yūshi's day-to-day life inside the apartment.
