Hakumei and Mikochi are nine-centimeter-tall women sharing a tiny house built into a tree in a vast, half-wild forest, where deer and birds double as transportation and umbrellas are cut from fallen leaves. Tomboyish Hakumei and her more composed roommate Mikochi fill their days with odd jobs, foraging, and encounters with the forest's other small residents and local deities. Each chapter is a self-contained slice of their scaled-down daily life.
