Doraemon, a robotic cat from the 22nd century, keeps trying to steer clumsy Nobita Nobi toward a better future using gadgets pulled from his four-dimensional pocket. Around him orbit love interest Shizuka, bully Gian, and sly rival Suneo, whose friction with Nobita usually kicks off the episode's conflict, which a new gadget is then meant to solve, however messily. This 2005 series is a full remake of the franchise, replacing the original 1979 cast and adding updated animation, and now airs in over fifty countries.
