Tomoko Kuroki enters high school convinced that her hundreds of hours in otome games and dating sims have prepared her for a popular social life. In reality she can barely string a sentence together around classmates, and three months pass without a single conversation. Her schemes get steadily more desperate: changing her appearance, eavesdropping on trends, rehearsing conversations alone in her room, each one collapsing into fresh awkwardness. Only her younger brother Tomoki and her middle-school friend Yuu Naruse get anything like normal talk out of her.
