Mei Tachibana spent years avoiding close relationships after childhood friends turned on her and blamed her for the death of a class pet. By high school she has no friends and prefers it that way, until a misunderstanding leads her to roundhouse-kick the popular Yamato Kurosawa. Rather than getting angry, Yamato takes an interest in her and hands over his phone number.
