Long before Attack on Titan took its final shape, a teenage Hajime Isayama drew this one-shot prototype for a magazine contest in 2006, set in a city walled off from the outside world not by stone, but by a barrier of giant trees. A young soldier named Murakumo and Tsubaki, a girl hoping he will take her on as an apprentice in the Vanguard Corps, anchor an early draft of the ideas that would later become the Attack on Titan series. Collected here as Volume 0, it's the earliest surviving version of Isayama's core concept.
