Synopsis
Gon, a young tiger, refuses to let classmates talk him out of his friendship with the beaver Mogu just because a predator and a prey animal 'shouldn't' be close. His is one of several one-off stories in Beast Complex, set in the same carnivore-and-herbivore society as Beastars. Elsewhere in the anthology, a journalist and a pair of coworkers running a cooking show test that same fault line from different angles. The anthology began before Beastars as a first look at this world, and each chapter stands alone while circling the same tension between instinct and social expectation.
