Mangaka Rohan Kishibe travels to Paris to examine a 300-year-old painting rumored to use the darkest pigment ever created, after learning its maker, Nizaemon Yamamura, was executed for felling a forbidden tree to extract the color. At the Louvre's restricted Warehouse Z-13, Rohan and a small team of museum staff get their first look at the painting itself, and Rohan starts to realize the curse behind it is worse than the story suggested.
