Ninth-grader Moritaka Mashiro, a talented artist haunted by his manga-artist uncle's death from overwork, has no plans to follow that path — until classmate Akito Takagi discovers his sketchbook and proposes they team up as artist and writer. Mashiro agrees after impulsively promising his crush Miho Azuki that they will marry once their manga gets an anime adaptation and she voices the heroine. The two begin their uphill fight to serialize a hit in Weekly Shonen Jump while still in middle school.
