In December, Miyuki Shiba receives an invitation to the Yotsuba clan's New Year gathering, and reads it immediately for what it is: the family is finally naming its next head. The prospect leaves her with a hard trade-off. Taking the position would let her brother Tatsuya step out of the shadows the clan has kept him in, but it would also come with an arranged marriage she does not want. As winter break begins, she, Tatsuya, and their aide Minami travel to the Yotsuba main residence to face the gathering.
