In response, the USNA unveils Project Dione, a program promising to redirect magic toward peaceful ends, and invites the mysterious engineer known only as Taurus Silver, secretly Tatsuya Shiba working from the Magic Association, to take part. As Tatsuya gets pulled deeper into a project whose real purpose turns out to be eliminating the world's most capable magicians, he finds himself growing more isolated from everyone around him, exactly as the arc's title suggests.
