Nearly sixty and still practicing off the books, Black Jack is hired by the dictatorship of Haroi to keep its dying leader, Mutariro, alive and so keep the regime standing. A resistance movement wants the man dead, but Black Jack operates by his own code: every patient gets his best work, tyrant or not. This one-volume story is a later continuation of the original Black Jack manga, following the surgeon into a near-future authoritarian state.
