Synopsis
A vertical-takeoff military aircraft flees the Republic of Berad, a northern dictatorship, and comes down in Black Jack's garden: Major Kaganov has defected with his wife and his son Andrei, whose heart defect has progressed past anything doctors will touch. Black Jack turns the case away at first, then relents when the boy collapses in front of him. His plan is the reverse of separating conjoined twins, joining mother and son so that Andrei shares her lung circulation and stays alive until a transplant becomes possible. This OVA adapts chapter 143 of the original manga.
