When Doraemon tells Nobita Nobi he must return to the 22nd century for good, the usually helpless boy has to prove he can handle school bully Gian, rival Suneo, and daily life without his robotic cat's gadgets. As the parting draws closer, Shizuka, Doraemon's younger sister Dorami, and Nobita's own grandmother all get pulled into the goodbye, turning what starts as a slapstick send-off into the franchise's most emotional short. It expands the manga chapters 'Goodbye, Doraemon' and 'Doraemon Comes Back' with new material written for the screen.
