Nagisa Misumi and Honoka Yukishiro return as Cure Black and Cure White for a second year of monster fights, now joined by Hikari Kujou, a new transfer student to Verone Academy who turns out to be a fragment of the Garden of Light's amnesiac Queen. As Shiny Luminous, Hikari can't fight directly, but she's central to recovering the twelve Heartiels needed to restore the Queen's memory and stop the villains from reviving the Dark King. This direct continuation of the first series adds Hikari's storyline on top of the returning cast's established fight against evil.
