Synopsis
Shinji Ikari continues piloting Evangelion Unit-01 for NERV as increasingly powerful Angels attack Tokyo-3. Two new pilots enter the fight: Asuka Langley Shikinami in Unit-02 and the mysterious Mari Makinami Illustrious in Unit-05. Rei Ayanami, meanwhile, organizes a dinner party to mend the rift between Shinji and his father Gendo — but a catastrophic Angel attack forces Gendo to make a decision that drives Shinji to abandon NERV entirely. This second Rebuild of Evangelion film diverges significantly from the original television series.
