Nishi Tatsuyoshi, a Hong Kong police detective, works a run of killings in and around the abandoned Kowloon Walled City where every body comes back drained of blood. It is 1993, the handover is close, and the further he gets the more people would rather he stopped, which pushes him into an uneasy arrangement with the Chiropteran-hunting Red Shield and a cellist named Hagi. The Wong family and the immortality drug they sell sit at the far end of the case. The volume runs before the Blood+ television story.
