Mari Tamaki, a second-year high-schooler who has spent years talking about seizing her youth without actually doing anything, stumbles into Shirase Kobuchizawa, a girl saving every yen she earns to reach Antarctica — where her mother vanished three years ago during a research expedition. Joined by part-timer Hinata Miyake and reluctant child actress Yuzuki Shiraishi, the four secure spots on a civilian expedition ship heading south.
