Palo Alto, 1984: Daisy meets Janyu Wong, a student newly arrived from Hong Kong, who takes her to Professor Rob McCoy's university lab and the circle of researchers later known as the Monster Makers. What the group builds there is a parallel world running inside a computer network, and the creatures that eventually become Digimon are its first residents. McCoy pulls in his ten-year-old son Keith, a gamer, to give those early beings their abilities and power ranks. The short story sits years before Digimon Tamers and keeps to Daisy's point of view.
