At age eleven, Kotoko Iwanaga was spirited away by yokai and asked to become their "God of Wisdom" — a mediator between the spirit and human worlds — at the cost of her right eye and left leg. Six years later, she meets Kuro Sakuragawa, a university student whose ex-girlfriend broke up with him after discovering he is not entirely human. When supernatural incidents arise, Kotoko drafts elaborate fictions to explain them away while Kuro's own mysterious nature draws the yokai's attention.
