Gamilas bombardment has killed Earth's surface and pushed its people underground with a year left to live. Iscandar sends word that a device able to scrub the radiation waits 148,000 light years away, so the sunken battleship Yamato is rebuilt as a starship and launched to fetch it, Susumu Kodai among the crew and Captain Okita on the bridge. This 1977 feature condenses the original 26 episode television series into one theatrical cut.
