Saya Otonashi and her chevalier Haji pass the opening years of the twentieth century in Russia, long before the Okinawa schoolgirl life Saya later wakes into. Revolution gathers across the country, and the chiropterans that only Saya's blood can crystallize move through that unrest as freely as through any other city. These two volumes trace the pair through those years, a side story set well outside the timeline the main Blood+ story follows.
