Moriko Morioka, a thirty-year-old woman who quits her corporate job to become a full-time shut-in, creates a male avatar named Hayashi in the MMORPG Fruits de Mer. In-game, Hayashi is taken under the wing of a healer named Lily, and the two become inseparable guildmates. Outside the game, Moriko keeps bumping into a polite businessman named Yuta Sakurai at convenience stores and crosswalks—unaware that Sakurai is Lily's player and that they have been circling each other offline without knowing it.
