Hina, a young traveler in the world of Althea, carries a Count — a number branded on her body that tracks how many kilometers she has walked. In Althea, everyone bears a Count tied to some aspect of their life, and when it drops to zero, the Abyss swallows them whole. On her dying mother's orders, Hina searches for the Legendary Red Baron and finds Licht Bach, a masked swordsman whose visible Count reads negative 999 — hiding a second Count marked with the white star of a legendary Ace from a war three centuries past.
