Portgas D. Ace leaves Dawn Island to start a crew of his own and is stranded almost at once on a bare island with no way off it. The stranger he finds there takes to him quickly, and the two set about building a boat with less food than the work needs, which has them at each other's throats before a strange fruit changes the arithmetic. Boichi draws this six-chapter adaptation of the novel One Piece: Ace's Story, covering the run-up to the Spade Pirates and their vow to reach the Grand Line.
