In a cyberpunk Kansai ruled by Kanto after a devastating civil war, an ordinary young woman stumbles into a death-row prison break and is mistaken for a criminal called Swindler. Forced to maintain the disguise or die, she joins a crew of elite Akudama — Courier, Brawler, Hacker, Doctor, and Cutthroat — on a mission to steal cargo from a heavily guarded Shinkansen controlled by Kanto. A mysterious robot called Black Cat directs the heist, but the cargo turns out to be nothing any of them expected.
