Princess Violetta and her twin brother Daisy are the children of Queen Sapphire, who once passed as a prince to take her late father's throne, and her husband Franz. When a cabal opposed to Daisy's claim spirits the young prince away, Violetta hides his disappearance by living as herself one day and as the prince the next. Once that secret is exposed and her family is shut away in a tower, she takes up a boy's disguise of her own and sets out to find her brother.
