Phoenix
火の鳥
Across twelve self-contained parts set in wildly different eras, from ancient Yamato to the far future, Osamu Tezuka traces humanity's obsession with the Phoenix, a fiery bird whose blood is said to grant eternal life. In each age, rulers, warriors, and dreamers chase that blood, only to find immortality unreachable or a curse, while reincarnation carries souls onward. Tezuka regarded the work as his life's project and left it unfinished at his death.
