Doraemon, an earless robotic cat from the 22nd century, is sent back in time to look after Nobita Nobi, a clumsy, unlucky elementary schooler whose future failures have left his descendants in poverty. From the pocket on his belly Doraemon produces futuristic gadgets to solve Nobita's everyday troubles, though Nobita's misuse of them usually makes things worse. Episodic chapters follow the pair alongside friends Shizuka, Gian, and Suneo through school days, scrapes, and small adventures.
