Katsuhiro Otomo gathered ten short manga from the years before Akira made him famous, mixing science fiction, war, and dark comedy across pieces that share no cast or setting. The title story, "Memories," sits alongside "Farewell to Weapons," "Sound of Sand," "Fire Ball," and others built around authoritarian power, mechanized violence, and ordinary people caught inside it. Collected in 1990, the volume traces the range of ideas Otomo was working through early in his career.
