In a remote mountain village, a series of overnight livestock deaths draws occult detective Kohachi Inugami from Tokyo. He discovers that the ostracized farmhand everyone calls Dorotabō is actually Kabane Kusaka, a half-ghoul boy abandoned by his parents. Inugami brings Kabane back to Tokyo to work at his supernatural detective agency alongside Shiki, a half-arachne, and Akira, a yuki-onna — and Kabane begins searching for his missing parents while learning what it means to have friends.
