Momo Ayase believes in ghosts but scoffs at aliens; her classmate Ken Takakura, nicknamed Okarun, is the exact opposite. They settle it with a bet: Okarun investigates a haunted tunnel while Momo visits a site linked to UFO sightings. Both lose: Okarun returns cursed by the Turbo-Granny, a ghost whose curse gives him supernatural speed, while Momo is abducted by the Serpo aliens and discovers latent psychokinetic powers. Their shared disasters pull them into a reluctant partnership, chasing down the supernatural things that keep finding them.
