Momo Ayase believes in ghosts but scoffs at aliens; her oddball classmate Ken Takakura, whom she nicknames Okarun, believes the exact opposite. To settle the argument, each visits a haunted or alien-linked spot to prove the other wrong, and both turn out to be right. Momo runs into extraterrestrials while Okarun is cursed by a yokai called Turbo Granny, and the two are thrown together into a chaotic life of occult and alien encounters that they have to face side by side.
